ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – The weather will be near perfect this weekend and there’s no excuse for sitting at home. Many free festivals and other events take place in the Atlanta metro area. Here are a few:


Atlanta Friendship Center hosts its 25th Anniversary Benefit Dinner with live jazz, great food and opportunities to support their art and garden programs.

The opening reception for Below the waistband and inches above art installation occurs. The temporary public art installation has conceptual photography at its core.

The Outside the film festival continues through Sunday at the Landmark Midtown Cinema. The LGBTQ Film Festival celebrates its 35th year with films you can watch at home or in the cinema.

The City of Atlanta Summer Movie Series will star “Space Jam: A New Legacy” is Rosa Burney Park.

CALUMNY, the DJ/producer duo of Derek Andersen and Scott Land from Los Angeles, present their Thrive Tour at The Eastern. They will perform with EPTIC, Leotrix and REDLINE.

Singer-songwriter Alicia’s Keys performs at Cadence Bank Amphitheater in Chastain Park.

The History of Strong. McPherson Voice and Visualization Exposure will be held at P. McPherson. The interactive experience features large-scale images by photographer Jena Jones with QR codes that provide access to an audio interview conducted by Althea Brown.

Atlanta House of Hope hosts a Women’s Wellness Day with breast cancer screenings, pre-diabetes screenings, massages, healthy cooking demonstrations, mental health sessions, exercise classes, food trucks and COVID testing -19.

The 31st Annual AIDS Walk and Musicfest featuring Wale and Tina is happening at Piedmont Park. There will be a 5K run and walk that will end with a concert.

West Ponce businesses are opening their patios and parking lots for the West Ponce Musical Walk. Bands will play throughout the day. Three groups will end the day on a large stage outside the Marlay. The day will start with a 5k run and a 1 mile dog walk. There will also be an artist market, chalk artists and yoga.


The North Georgia State Fair is underway in Cobb County. The traditional fair features rides, games, livestock, entertainment, fair food and more.

The directory Dragon Boat Festival takes place at Drake Field in Peachtree City. In addition to shopping, there will be food, entertainment, kids’ activities and more.

The Oktoberfest red hare at the Red Hare Brewing Company in Marietta will feature live music, specialty mugs, a mug-holding contest and dachshund races.

The Atlanta Indian Film Festival at Aurora Cineplex in Roswell will feature popular Indian cinema and Indian directors, actors and producers.

ELEVATE presents Dance in Colony Square under the direction of Emory Dance Professor Julio medina. The show will consist of 3 pieces.

Fado Irish Pub & Restaurant in Midtown Atlanta is hosting a game watch party for Michigan vs. Maryland. There will be food and drink specials and designated seating.

The town of East Point welcomes Salsa in town to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on the lawn of City Hall. There will be a live salsa band, food vendors and a DJ.

The Lac Clair Community Trust hosts the Jerry Jam Fall Fest with live music, food trucks, and wine and beer for sale.


Drive the electric Georgia is hosting an electric vehicle car show in Manheim Metro Atlanta on Metropolitan Parkway. The Town of Peachtree Corners also hosts an eclectic car show. It will take place in the CineBistro parking lot on downtown boulevard. Concert on the Green at Logan Farm Park in Acworth will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. There will be food, music and dancing.

The City of Atlanta Summer Movie Series will feature “Black Widow” in Kathryn Johnston Park.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra kicks off a new season by pairing guest conductor Pete Oundijian and piano legend Emanuel Ax for a classical Mozart concerto paired with Joel Thompson’s captivating To Awaken the Sleeper with lyrics by Harlem Renaissance luminary James Baldwin. The program ends with Rachmaninoff’s flamboyant orchestral blaze, Symphonic Dances.

American alternative rock band vertical horizon of Washington, DC, performs on the town green of Peachtree Corners.

Noose presents its Knotfest Fall 2022 roadshow at the Ameris Bank Amphitheater in Alpharetta. Special guests include Ice Nine Kills and Crown the Empire.

Acclaimed Australian indie dance trio Twisted colors performs with SWIMM at Terminal West on West Marietta Street.

Qualusi Vineyards in Acworth hosts a harvest fair with grape crushing, live music and more. Over 20 local vendors, live music from Noah Sampson and Rich Gunderlock and a food truck.


Westview Cemetery offers a guided tour. Learn about the lives of important Atlantans like Joel Chandler Harris, Donald Lee Hollowell, and Harriett Harwell Wilson High. Visits will include the 1890 gatehouse and, weather permitting, the enormous Spanish Plateresque Abbey and Chapel at Westview.

The Cascade Springs Nature Preserve will feature the unveiling project of ‘A Radiance’, a site-specific installation created by artist Dorothy O’Connor featuring life-size handmade wood veneer birds.

Sunday in the park with tunes from the tombs takes place at the historic Oakland Cemetery. There will be guided tours, craft beer and liquor, an artist market and pop-up shop, food trucks, vendors and live music by SUSTO and special guests Sailing to Denver.
