ADRIAN — An educator with 21 years of classroom experience has been selected to be the next principal of Lincoln Elementary School in Adrian.
Pending approval from Adrian’s Public Schools Board of Education, an interview committee has recommended Tiffany Yatzek for the position, a press release from Adrian’s schools said. The board, the statement said, is expected to consider approving Yatzek as Lincoln’s new director at its June 13 meeting.
If approved by the board, Yatzek will succeed longtime Lincoln Elementary principal Sam Skeels, who was recently hired by the school board as principal of Adrian High School, starting in 2019. school year 2022-2023.
Yatzek is currently a specialist teacher in schools in the Milan area. While in Milan, according to the statement, Yatzek served on numerous leadership teams and committees such as the Leadership Team for Positive Behavior and Supports Intervention and Building, School Improvement Committees and numerous program improvement committees. She also served as Acting Principal of Elementary Kindergarten-Second Grade.
Prior to teaching in schools in the Milan area, Yatzek taught special education in schools in the Morenci area for five years. She holds a Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Toledo and currently resides in Adrian with her husband, Derrick, and their three children, all of whom attend Adrian’s public schools.

School board counselor Michael Ballard, a member of Lincoln Elementary’s senior interview committee, called Yatzek “a positive and experienced educator who will seamlessly lead and transition into our APS family.”
“From the initial interview, I was impressed with Tiffany’s ability to grasp the complex role of the principal and his inclusive plan to move Lincoln Elementary School forward,” Lincoln Elementary parent Dalila John said in the press release. “His knowledge, energy, compassion and dedication will be a tremendous asset to Lincoln staff, students and families.”
The hiring of Lincoln’s new manager will be the third administrative search and hiring process completed since Nate Parker took over as district superintendent in April. The senior positions were held by Skeels at Adrian High School and by Adam Bonschoter at Springbrook Middle School. Before becoming superintendent, Parker had been the principal of the college since 2010.
Parker praised Yatzek, saying she was selected from “an impressive pool of applicants.”
