VACAVILLE — The Vacaville School District Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Manolo Garcia, who currently serves as Acting Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, as Assistant Superintendent of the Human Resources Department.

The appointment was announced in a press release and took effect on Friday.

“Mr. Garcia brings a wealth of experience to the Vacaville Unified School District, not only in human resources, but also as a former teacher and school administrator. Throughout his career, he has had a measurable impact on the “expanding recruitment and retention initiatives and improving systems, processes and customer service across the district,” Superintendent Jane Shamieh said in the news release. “We look forward to his leadership in the continuing our efforts to attract experienced educators and support staff to VUSD.”

Garcia has five years of human resources experience as the department’s former director of human resources. In addition to 14 years as a site administrator on various campuses in Solano and Yolo counties. Garcia was principal of Edwin Markham Elementary School for nine years, and while at Ernest Kimme Charter Academy he wrote the charter to start the school of independent learning.

Garcia graduated from the University of California at Davis.
